How to Operate Your Fiber Laser Cutting Machine in 19 Steps

When operating the MVD Fiber Laser Cutting Machine equipped with state-of-the-art technology, as with other fiber laser machines, there are certain procedures that must be followed. Performing these procedures correctly and completely ensures a longer service life for your machine and enables it to perform perfect cuts even years later, just like the first day. Figure 1: MVD iLaser Fiber Laser Cutting Machine In this article, we will examine step by step the procedures that must be applied during each startup of our iLaser Fiber Laser Cutting Machine. Figure 2: Safety Labels Step 1: Operators must comply with safe working rules and use the required protective clothing and equipment. Step 2: The user manual included with the machine must be read carefully and thoroughly. Since the manual may need to be reread when necessary, it should be stored in an easily accessible place where it will not be deformed. Step 3: Before starting the laser cutting machine, the water level of the Chiller, the cleanliness of the air filter's dust collection bin, and whether the switches are in the correct position are carefully checked. Step 4: After the machine is connected to power, the switch of the electrical cabinet must first be set to the on position. Step 5: Then, the switches of the Fume Extraction Filter, the Chiller, and the Resonator must be turned on respectively. Figure 3: Fume Extraction Filter (Left), Chiller (Center), Resonator (Right) Step 6: It is checked whether there is an error in the Chiller, Resonator, or Fume Extraction Filter. Step 7: It is checked via pressure sensors that nitrogen, oxygen, and dry air are delivered to the gas console. Then, gas tests are performed on the machine.     Figure 4: Gas Valves Step 8: It must be checked that there are no objects on the bellows and the sheet metal.   Figure 5: Guideway System Step 9: The machine is started and the axes are moved. Step 10: The lower protective glass of the machine is checked; if there is no stain or dust on the glass, the machine is brought to the service position, a laser shot is fired, and if there is any misalignment in the center, centering adjustment is performed. Figure 6: Lower Protective Glass Step 11: The appropriate parameter must be selected according to the thickness of the sheet to be cut. The suitable nozzle for the sheet to be cut is selected from the chosen parameter and the nozzle replacement is performed. Figure 7: Conical Nozzle Step 12: The laser head is moved over the sheet for calibration. Calibration must be performed after every nozzle change. Figure 8: Precitec ProCutter (Cutting Head)   Step 13: If no problems are encountered during these procedures, the origin point can be set and cutting can be performed. Figure 9: Centering Process Step 14: To prevent damage to the machine, thicknesses outside the machine's capacity and sheets different from the specified ones must strictly not be attempted to be cut. Figure 10: Caliper Step 15: If the machine produces slag/welding on the metal during sheet piercing, the machine must be stopped and the piercing area must be cleaned.  Step 16: If the cut parts stand higher than the sheet surface, the machine must be stopped to remove or flatten that part to prevent the cutting head from colliding with it. Step 17: When the machine is to be turned off, the switches of the Fume Extraction Filter, Resonator, and Chiller must be turned off respectively. Figure 11: Resonator (Left), Chiller (Center), Fume Extraction Filler (Right) Step 18: Log out from the control panel, wait for the screen to shut down, lower the cabinet switch, and then disconnect the machine's power supply. Step 19: With this process, the scrap carts located at the rear of the machine are emptied and the working area is cleaned.   Figure 12: Conveyor (Left), Scrap Cart (Right)
